Homemade Caramels

If you are inpatient or just want yummy carmel dip for apples, only heat for about 5 minutes.  A perfect Fall treat when our apples are at their peak!

2 cans sweetened condensed milk
2 lbs. dark brown sugar
1 pint light corn syrup (4 cups)
1 lb. butter

Melt butter slowly, add remaining ingredients. Stir to avoid scorching. Cook until 240 degrees on a candy thermometer (about 15-20 min). Pour into 2 buttered sheet cake pans. Cool. Cut into uniform pieces and wrap in waxed paper.
