Great Northern Bean Soup

½ lb bacon, diced
1 onion, diced
¾ c. celery
1 carrot, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 T. oregano
1 T. minced fresh jalapeno chili or canned
2 qts. Chicken or vegetable broth
¾ t. pepper
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
6 c. canned or cooked white beans
¼ c. fresh cilantro

Cook bacon until almost crisp. Discard almost all but 2 T. fat. Add onion, celery, carrot and garlic. Stir often until vegetables are limp. Add oregano, chili, broth, pepper, Worcestershire and beans. Boil and the cover and simmer about 30 min. Stir in cilantro and salt to taste before serving
